Known as a jewel in the crown of the Scenic Rim, Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens is nestled in a valley covering 11 hectares with combined plantings of sub-tropical and cool temperate exotic plants and natural sub-tropical rainforest.
Ever changing like the seasons, there is a never-ending variety of walks and gardens to enjoy. As you feel the heat of summer approaching, you can expect to see cheerful, warm and bright plants with the blooms of Hydrangeas, Agapanthus, Clivias, Daylillies. October is a particularly special time with the cherry blossoms coming into flower.
The botanic gardens have been designed with different themed areas ranging from the Palm Gardens to the Rainforest Walk. The Japanese Garden adds a lovely feel to things – and also has one of ten Contemplative Sites featured throughout the Botanic Gardens.
You may choose to wander every path, or simply pick your favourite bench or picnic area to enjoy time with friends and family. There is also an undercover area near the entrance of the gardens with tables and chairs to use while you each your lunch. This area is elevated and looks over the ponds and grounds to you can enjoy the view while having a bite to eat. The rotunda is particularly lovely for those with little ones. For wheelchairs and strollers, you will be pleased to discover that many of the paths are accessible for you to enjoy as well.
You will be delighted by the stone bridge, or simply relax and take in the surrounds of the lake or Tamborine Creek. The children can watch the ducks and water fowl play whilst you relax in a nice shady spot. You will feel as though you’ve entered a magical world, and can entertain the little ones with stories of fairy princess or cheeky bridge trolls.
And, as if all of that weren’t already enticing – because Tamborine Mountain is 500m higher than the neighbouring Gold Coast, you will immediately notice the drop in temperature and humidity. A refreshing escape on a sizzling summer day!
The toilet amenities are located at the back of the carpark, opposite the entrance. They are basic facilities but clean. There is also plenty of carparking with two levels of parking plus roadside as well.
This heavenly garden is located on Forsythia Drive Eagle Heights – once you make your way up either of the main roads to Tamborine, there are clear directions to the Botanic Gardens. Once you have enjoyed a morning tea or lunch here, head to the galleries and shops located just a short drive away on Gallery Walk….better still, you could always grab an ice-cream or a piece of locally made fudge while going for a stroll.
