‘Walk for Prems’ to help support the 45,000 premature babies born in 2014

Life’s Little Treasures Foundation’s annual ‘Walk for Prems’ will take place in seven major cities across Australia on Sunday 26th October 2014 to raise much-needed funds in support of families of premature or sick babies.

Approximately 45,000 infants are admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery ward each year in Australia*, while around 15 million babies across the world are born premature per year. **

All funds raised by Life’s Little Treasures Foundation’s family-friendly social walk will help provide families with information, support and understanding to help them with their challenging journey.

Registration and Fundraising:
To take part in Walk for Prems, sign up online at www.walkforprems.org.au. The registration cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Participants are asked to fundraise, either individually or as a team, through their own page on the Walk for Prems website.

Entertainment:
The Walk for Prems event will be followed by a range of children’s entertainment including a jumping castle and face-painting.

About Life’s Little Treasures:
Life’s Little Treasures Foundation is Australia’s leading charity dedicated to providing information, support and understanding to the parents of babies born premature or sick and admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery ward.

The foundation was born in 2005 when a group of parents of premature babies decided to do something about the lack of support available to people in their situation. Life’s Little Treasures Foundation want to ensure that no family endures the traumatic and life changing experience of having a premature of sick baby without easy access to critical information and community support to help them through their journey.
