Speaker: Dr Ali Sammel, Griffith University and Bats Queensland.

Bats are one of Queensland’s most marginalised and misunderstood animals. Scientist, educator, and flying fox carer, Dr Ali Sammel, will dispel the myths surrounding these amazingly beautiful and complex creatures.

She will discuss why flying foxes are vitally important to our ecosystem and represent the only hope our native forests have for surviving climate change.

Ali will also explain why bats need our help; and what we can all do to conserve and protect them. This presentation will review the latest scientific and statistical information about bats and introduce you to some of the adorable individuals in Bats Queensland’s care.
