Although it says Surfers Paradise, locals would probably know the area better as Chevron Island. This park really has everything you could want and more for a fun filled family day out.
There is a great playground area for the children to enjoy. It’s covered by shade cloth which is always a reassurance to parents; you won’t have to worry about sunburn here. It’s got a groovy red slide which is sure to attract the kids. Two swings are nearby as well.
Just over from this play area is a modern barbeque complete with two hotplates. Once lunch is cooked, you can choose to eat at the undercover picnic table or you may prefer to take your meal down to the stools located along the waterfront on a wooden jetty and enjoy the view over the Nerang River.
Once you’ve eaten, why not throw in a line and tempt the local fish? The Nerang River offers bream, flathead, whiting – you may even catch a crab! The jetty is also covered by shade cloth, which is really nice as well. The kids can learn to fish well protected from the sun’s harmful rays.
The toilets are clean and relatively new. In addition, there is a drinking fountain located near the barbeque – which also doubles up as tap that you can wash the sand off your feet, or maybe even give your dog a drink too.
There is plenty of space in this park to burn up energy in countless ways. Take a ball, a cricket bat, a frisbee or you can just put your favourite music on and go for a nice walk and watch the river.
Korman Family Park is located on Stanhill Drive, Chevron Island (Surfers Paradise).
