ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 Giveaway! CLOSED

Lightning McQueen joins Mack The Transporter on the Gold Coast

GOLD COAST: Disney-Pixar CARS fans brace themselves following news of star racecar Lightning McQueen heading to town for the very first time with his famous friend Mack The Transporter, as the official Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour rolls on throughout 2012.

CARS fans on the Gold Coast will be able to get up close to McQueen at the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600. International drivers will co-drive with V8 Supercar stars by day, international and Australian music acts will perform at night, plus the Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour will keep the kids entertained all weekend!

All CARS fans will be able to put themselves into a scene of their choice from the movie in the green screen photography zone, as part of the Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour.  They’ll learn the rules of the road using pedal power while on the Junior Drivers Training Track, complete with its very own road, signs, round-a-bout and traffic light! Parked up alongside Mack The Transporter is the major attraction, a life-sized model of Lightning McQueen, polished to perfection and sporting his famous grin. Plus, there’s colour-in fun in Mater’s Workshop, a jumping castle, wheel change station, remote controlled racing action, iPad zone, 3D cinema, toys, souvenirs and the ultimate Race-O-Rama PS3 play-offs.

Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour Ambassador and V8 Supercar driver, Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom, won himself an army of new fans after voicing the Australian race car character of the same name in Disney-Pixar’s CARS 2. This marked the first time in Australian history that a sporting hero has been given a speaking role in an animated film.

“I’m a big Cars fan and I love both of the movies,” says Winterbottom. “I’ve been watching Cars 2 every second day with my son Oliver, he was so excited when he saw Lightning McQueen in real life for the first time. I can’t wait to catch up with Lightning again on the Gold Coast”.

Released in 2006, Disney-Pixar CARS has become a leading boys’ franchise around the world. Cars went on to gross $462M in global box office sales, and CARS 2 accumulated $560M at the Global Box Office and is supported across The Walt Disney Company through consumer products, books, video games, TV including the popular series of short form content: Cars Toons, home entertainment, music, a website Disney.com.au/Cars, live theatre productions and park attractions including Cars Land planned for launch in 2012 at Disneyland, California.

“We are delighted that Cars continues to be so popular and resonate with Aussie kids and families. We are especially proud to bring Mack The Transporter and now Lightning McQueen to fans and families right around the country. Now in its second year, the Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour is an experience for all ages, and not to be missed!” says Kylie Watson-Wheeler, General Manager, Licensing – The Walt Disney Company.
