Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Set on a massive preserve containing huge eucalypt trees and rainforest and owned by the National Trust of Queensland, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a great day out for Gold Coast families.

Hands-on Shows and Exhibits

With interactive wildlife displays allowing you to meet, feed and have your photo taken with Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s resident koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles and more, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your day. Shows and feeding opportunities are held almost hourly from open to close, with the amazing Lorikeet Feeding bringing hundreds of birds flocking morning and afternoon to nibble from outstretched hands.

With the largest walk-in aviary in the Southern Hemisphere, your entry to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary also includes access to the wildlife hospital where sick and injured animals from both within and outside of the park are treated. An incredible reptile and amphibian display can be found in Australia’s Green Cauldron and the nocturnal house, which is home to possums, owls and other night-time creatures, is a must-see.

Physical Adventures

For Gold Coast Kids wanting to get physical, Currumbin Sanctuary has built the Wild Island Adventure Playground and the Green Challenge Adventure Parc. Wild Island is targeted at the younger Gold Coast Kids and is designed as an educational playground area, with a flying fox, mini rock-climbing wall and wombat burrows to explore.

Bigger Gold Coast Kids and adults will love the new Green Challenge Adventure Parc. An environment based journey through four diverse high ropes courses challenges a multitude of skill levels, taking visitors way up into the trees. With the exception of the Extreme Green Challenge, which is for more experienced enthusiasts, the Green Challenge Adventure Parc has been designed for children (subject to height restrictions) and is guaranteed to have them exhausted by the end of the day!

Night-time at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary stays up late with its Yanguwah Night Adventure. Including an amazing welcome ceremony followed by a traditionally prepared Kup Murri feast, the sanctuary showcases Australian wildlife and culture in a special evening event. A tour of the park, accompanied by Aboriginal music and dance displays demonstrates Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s aim to educate and entertain with little disturbance to the area’s historical values. The Night Adventure is separate to general admission fees and bookings are necessary.

Holiday Club

Every school holidays, children aged 5 to 16 years can participate in the fantastic programs set up to entertain and educate. Run by experienced and qualified staff, the program offers three separate options dependant on the age of your child and is tailored to their general interests. Gold Coast Kids will experience many hands-on activities throughout the day, often getting a behind-the-scenes look at the sanctuary itself.

All profits raised by Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are put back into the care of their environment and animals. For more information on opening times, tickets prices and special events at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
